Peninsula Shops is founded on the idea that the Peninsula is our livelihood.

We work, play, laugh, love and create memories here. It is important for us all to make an honest attempt and keep it that way.

There is no doubt that big box stores continue to gain market share and push our local merchants out of business. So what is it that we must do? Aren't the local merchants also the consumers who help make this economy work? Isn't it the connection we make with one another part of what makes the Peninsula such a wonderfully diverse place to live?

Our founder, Jason E. Sutherland, was born in Redwood City California and truly has a passionate interest in local livelihood. Spanning over 10+ years, Jason's background consists of Digital Media, Art and Marketing Design, with experiences ranging from freelance projects all the way up to The World's Largest Hotel Chain.

Jason's mother's family migrated to San Francisco from France after being exiled out of Egypt in 1967. With next to nothing on their backs they supported themselves by building independent businesses throughout the state of California. His father, a Bay Area Native, is now a retired Senior ESL Professor of the California School System and a retired Local Business Owner.
